Each member of the Poster Girls’ community plays a vital role in making our mission possible. Together, we coordinate fundraising events like the Sweetheart Supper, Busted, and Man Up to Breast Cancer, collaborate with hospitals to create programs to provide free early detection screenings and diagnostic procedures, and work hand-in-hand to raise awareness, and funds for the early detection of breast cancer. Our impact is a direct reflection of the compassion and commitment of our all-volunteer team — and the generosity of those who support our cause.
About Us
The Mammogram Poster Girls is a Dallas-based nonprofit dedicated to saving lives through the early detection of breast cancer. Our mission is simple yet powerful — to raise awareness and funds for the early detection of breast cancer and to provide mammograms for those in need.
We believe that where you live should not determine if you live. Too many women in southern Dallas face higher rates of late-stage breast cancer diagnoses simply because they lack access to affordable screenings. We’re working to change that by removing barriers to care and making preventative healthcare accessible to all.
Through partnerships with healthcare providers, mobile mammography units, and community events, we bring screenings to where women live, work, and gather. Every mammogram we fund represents a life potentially saved — and a step toward health equity in our community.
Our Founder: Sheri Mathis
At the heart of the Mammogram Poster Girls stands Sheri Mathis — a passionate advocate, community leader, and two-time breast cancer survivor. After facing breast cancer twice, and watching her sisters face the challenges of breast cancer, the sisters experienced firsthand the fear, uncertainty, and learned of the financial barriers that prevent too many women from accessing timely breast health care. Sheri saw how lack of insurance or resources could turn a treatable disease into a devastating diagnosis, and she refused to let other women face that alone.
Inspired by her journey, Sheri founded the Mammogram Poster Girls to transform awareness into action. Her mission was simple but powerful: connect uninsured and underinsured individuals to free, life-saving mammograms and diagnostic services. What began as a small grassroots effort quickly grew under her leadership into a respected nonprofit with deep community roots.
Today, Sheri leads MPG in partnership with Methodist Health System, Parkland Health, local hospitals and mobile mammography units, businesses, and civic leaders across North Texas. Her warmth, determination, and unwavering commitment have helped fund hundreds of screenings each year — ensuring more women receive the care they need and deserve.
Sheri’s vision continues to guide the organization forward, proving every day that compassion and community can save lives–one mammogram at a time.
The Impact: Patients Funded by Mammogram Poster Girls
Funds raised by the Mammogram Poster Girls directly fund mammograms and follow-up diagnostics for underinsured and uninsured women across North Texas.
To date, MPG has funded thousands of mammograms, providing critical early detection services for women who otherwise might have gone without care.
Our Team
Mammogram Poster Girls is guided by a volunteer board, in collaboration with healthcare providers, and Poster Girls Partners who believe in the power of community.
